Reunion Celebration & Photos!
The Crystal Reunion on June 10 was a heartwarming affair, filled with laughter and cherished memories. We celebrated with members from the Classes of 1958, 1963, 1968, 1973, 1978, 1983, 1988, 1993, 1998, 2003, 2008, 2013, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022. Overall, Reunion was filled with warmth as classmates shared stories, rekindled memories, and celebrated the milestones achieved since their days at Crystal.
What happened at Reunion?
The Class of '73 beamed with their incredible 50th Reunion turnout, a testament to the enduring bonds formed at Crystal.
The Class of ‘73 announced a generous gift, called the Spirit of ‘73 Award. This award is granted annually to an individual in Crystal’s Professional Adult Community (PAC) who had an exceptionally positive impact on the educational experience of students and the larger Crystal Springs Uplands School community. Crystal is so grateful for the generosity of the Class of ‘73 for this award!
Additionally, we announced this year’s Alum of the Year, Nancy Budge ‘73. We also celebrated the 2022 Alum of the Year, Tyson Mao ‘02. Congrats, Nancy and Tyson!

In his 40-year career, half of which was spent at Crystal during two separate tenures, Bruce made significant contributions to Crystal. As a former History teacher, interim Head of Upper School, Emergency Team leader, and the COVID Response leader, Bruce has worn many hats at Crystal- something Head of School Kelly Sortino fondly spoke to in her tribute at his retirement celebration. Speakers Kelly Sortino and Ken Considine shared many stories highlighting Bruce’s dedication and commitment to Crystal, and Bruce shared his own words at the event, expressing his love and thanks for our community.

We were thrilled to welcome Brianna Rangel Arroyo ‘20, Charlie Berman ‘20, Max Gerhardt ‘20, and Emily Gao ‘22 back to campus to be part of our Young Alumni Speaker Panel to help our graduates prepare for college. Current seniors gathered for the College Transition Workshop at the US on Tuesday, May 16. Seniors then enjoyed a luncheon on the back patio to celebrate in the sunshine.

Guest Artist in US Photography Class
.PNG) Becky Logan ‘89, Trustee P ‘19, P ‘23 demonstrated an alternative printing process using the precious metal palladium in Kym Matossian’s US Photography classes. This chemical process for printing photography was invented in the 1800s. After attending a workshop in Yosemite at which Becky got to process photos in Ansel Adams’ darkroom, she was immediately drawn to palladium printing. She shared her joy and expertise with US Photography students. Watch a video of the print coming to life in our US dark room below.

Fun in the Sun
Middle School students were bused to the US campus on Friday, May 26 to enjoy an afternoon of Fun in the Sun with our Upper School students as One Crystal. Our new turf field/mansion back lawn was put to good use providing plenty of space for carnival activities such as bouncy slides, musical chairs, tug of war, and face painting. It was a great way to kick-off Memorial Day Weekend and get us ready for summer.

MS Musical, Rock of Ages
The talented cast transported audiences back to LA’s famous Sunset Strip in 1987. It was a time of big hair, big egos, big bands, and the performances reminded us to Don’t Stop Believin'. You can see a gallery of our Middle School students performing on the US stage below.
